Dunes Among Widest Courses in America, According to LINKS

As the PGA Tour begins play at Kapalua and the Plantation Course for The Sentry Tournament of Champions, wide golf courses are on the mind at LINKS.

And when putting together a list of the nation’s widest, Joe Passov (known by some as Travelin’ Joe Passov) made mention of a links-style course 17 minutes south of Valentine, Nebraska.

 

Picture the widest fairways imaginable—then double it—and you have the driving zones at this 2010 Tom Lehman/Chris Brands design carved into the heaving, wind-sculpted terrain of northwestern Nebraska.

 

Others to make the list were the aforementioned Kapalua, Chambers Bay in Washington, Mammoth Dunes at Sand Valley in Wisconsin, Talking Stick in Arizona, Rustic Canyon in California, Old Macdonald at Bandon Dunes in Oregon, Gamble Sands also in Washington, Erin Hills also in Wisconsin, and finally, our neighbors at Landmand,
