Dunes 15 Flyover Tour (4K)
September 15, 2021—
For September 15, we decided to tour hole 15 on our Dunes Course.
The 15th hole is the final par-5 on the Dunes course. The hole runs uphill and mostly to the west on the back nine’s march toward our Lodge.
Designers Tom Lehman and Chris Brands provide a spacious fairway measuring over one hundred yards in several places. To take advantage, one must use angles and strategy to have an opportunity to score.
Off the tee, the forgiving side of the fairway exists left, where benign bunkers and acres of open turf await a conservative tee shot. A shot up the right provides for a handful of approach options.
For long-hitters playing aggressively, take aim ten to fifteen yards left of the lone pine tree on the horizon.
If you find yourself laying up, take note of the hole’s location. There is plenty of space to lay into, so be thoughtful.
Optimal lay-ups fly the left edge, cresting the top of the hill. Shots missed right will find a large swale at the bottom of a wide basin.
The circular green has a significant false front, while pin locations along the back will receive balls caroming off a generous backstop.
Birdie is in play here. Take your chance.
