Providing the avid golfer the opportunity to experience world-class golf has been the driving philosophy of The Prairie Club since our inception.
We believe the world has had its share of exclusively private clubs, five-figure dues, and mediocre golf courses. As a semi-private destination, we strive to provide the greatest value to our members and their families, while offering access to our public guests who want to come and experience world-class golf in the Sandhills of Nebraska.
Golf Digest has named both of our 18-hole courses to their 2017-2018 list of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.

The Dunes Course, designed by Tom Lehman and Chris Brands, ranked 41st in the rankings.
“Both 18s at Nebraska’s premier golf resort join the 100 Greatest Public this year. The Dunes Course, as the name implies, flows through a rumpled blanket landscape of the rugged, treeless, windswept sand hills of central Nebraska. Most fairways are generously broad, most greens are perched, tucked or otherwise half-hidden to reward only shots correctly placed at certain angles. The most fascinating hole comes early, the par-4 second with out-of-bounds indicated by a barbed-wire fence hard along the right from tee to green.” – Golf Digest
The Pines Course, designed by Graham Marsh, earned the 90th ranking.
“It repeatedly touches the edge of a deep canyon formed by the Snake River. Those seven holes (6 & 7, 10 & 11 and 16 through 18) are lined with tall pines and cedars and bring to mind a collection of holes in the Colorado Rockies. For pure golfing variety, Prairie Club rivals even Bandon Dunes.” – Golf Digest

Pebble Beach Golf Links in California tops the list of courses. The list is compiled by Golf Digest architecture editor Ron Whitten.
A few years ago, Whitten discussed the ranking process in an interview after the last rankings.
Our courses have been featured in the biennial rankings in the past, including a 35th ranking of the Dunes Course and a 75th ranking of the Pines Course.
We open our 2017 season on Thursday, May 18 before closing on October 8. Some availability remains for the 2017 season. As a semi-private club, we welcome public guests to experience pure golf with us for one trip each golf season.
